NORMAN, OK – The Women’s Resource Center’s (WRC) annual gala will feature author,
speaker, and survivor, Elizabeth Smart as its keynote speaker. The gala is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
on Friday, October 15, 2021, at The Nest at Terra Verde, 1000 36th Ave SE, Norman, Oklahoma.
WRC’s gala is an annual fundraising event held to raise awareness about the effects of domestic
violence, sexual violence, and stalking on individuals, families, and the community. This year’s
theme, An Evening of Hope featuring Elizabeth Smart, will celebrate the determination, tenacity
and courage of the human spirit. Smart was abducted on June 5, 2002 and held for nine grueling
months before police safely returned her back to her family. Since her return, she has dedicated
her life to bringing hope for families, peace for victims and empowering all people.
Gala tickets go on sale July 1, 2021 and start at $100 per individual. Please visit
https://wrcnormanok.org/tickets/ to purchase your tickets. Sponsorship opportunities start at
$2500. For more information, please contact Faith Walkley at faith@wrcweb.net.
Smart’s book, Where There’s Hope, will be available for purchase. A silent auction and wine pull
will be held during the event.
