CCSO helps to spread Christmas cheer to families

Thanks to a partnership between the Wal-Mart Community Foundation and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, eight families will get the opportunity to make sure their loved ones have presents under the Christmas tree this holiday season.

CCSO deputies and volunteer firefighters will help families shop at 8 a.m. Dec. 10, at Wal-Mart, 601 12th Ave. NE in Norman. Families, firefighters and deputies will meet at the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, 128 S. Peters Ave., in Norman, and convoy to Wal-Mart.

All families live in Cleveland County.

Wal-Mart Super Center stores in Moore and Norman donated money towards gift cards. Each family will receive a $500 gift card and be able to purchase gifts.

This year, Alameda Church of Christ will give a food basket to each family.

This is the fourth year for the Christmas shopping event.

Sheriff Joe Lester said he and his deputies look forward to spreading a little Christmas cheer to these families who are experiencing difficult times and do not have the resources to provide gifts for their children.

“I am proud my deputies recognized a need to help less fortunate families in Cleveland County,” Lester said. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Christmas than to help these families provide food and gifts for their loved ones. I also want to thank Wal-Mart for their support. This event wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for their generosity.”
