Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a Noble man suspected of shooting his brother-in-law.

At 12:45 a.m. today, dispatchers received a call about a shooting in the 7800 block of Pine Ridge Road. When deputies arrived they found Christopher Kirkwood, 26, of Noble, who had been shot in the neck. Kirkwood was taken by ambulance to Norman Regional Hospital and later transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He is expected to survive his injuries.

As deputies and detectives began investigating the scene and collecting evidence, they learned that Kirkwood and his brother-in-law, Kyle Gene Shetley, 25, live in separate trailer homes on the property. The investigation revealed Kirkwood and Shetley became involved in a family dispute.

During the disagreement, Shetley shot Kirkwood with a handgun. Immediately after the incident, Shetley fled the area.

Shetley was apprehended without incident about 4:45 p.m. today in the 12000 block of Timber Trails Road near Lexington. After Shetley was questioned about the incident, he was arrested on complaint of domestic assault and battery with deadly weapon.

Deputies booked Shetley in the Cleveland County Detention Center late this evening. Formal charges against Shetley are pending.

Investigators urge anyone who has information about this incident to call the CCSO tip line at (405) 701-8870, Crime Stoppers at (405) 701-8872, or people may send anonymous tips using the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office mobile app.
